Position Summary: The Assistant Financial Controller, reporting to the Controller, will assist in the monthly accounting close cycle, account reconciliations, financial package preparations, external audits and coordination with our accounting outsourcing partner. This individual is a key member of the accounting team and requires establishing and maintaining working relationships with business partners across the organization, supporting management with analysis and reporting, and coaching and mentoring a high performing team.
Assists in the coordination and supervision of the monthly close process to include AP, JIB, Revenue, GL and Financial; this includes alignment with accounting outsourcing firm
Prepares/reviews reconciliations for various balance sheet accounts. Performs analysis to ensure accuracy
Assists in the successful and timely completion of the Company’s external interim and annual audit
Assists in the coordination of the Company’s 3rd party ad valorem tax consultants
Responsible for multiple monthly financial close activities to include ARO, DD&A, derivatives, debt and FF&E
Provides accounting oversight and support to multiple team members
Leads the tracking, progress, and completion of the Accounting Department’s projects Maintains fixed assets including alignment of the Company’s capital expenditures policies
Manages cash reporting and treasury operations
Assists in the implementation and assures adherence to accounting policies and procedures
Proactively identifies and implements process improvements as necessary Technical
Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance or similar from an accredited University
Active CPA strongly preferred
Minimum of 7+ years of accounting experience in the upstream oil and gas industry Minimum of 3+ years of supervisory experience is required
Experience in public accounting or year-end audits preferred
Creative individual with intermediate-to-advanced computer skills capable of analyzing and solving problems using software & analytics tools (PowerBI, Spotfire, etc.) Corporate/Interpersonal Requirements
